These are distance education courses delivered via the World Wide Web. It should be noted that courses delivered via the World Wide Web can also be distributed via a CD ROM or Intranet. Some technologies such as Lotus LearningSpace can "repurpose" content to be delivered via the World Wide Web and as a Lotus Notes client application. Therefore, the terms Web-Based Training and Web-Based Instruction are often used as a collect-all for any form of education that is delivered outside of the classroom, remotely.
